The Marvels of Humanity

Joy is prayer
Joy is strength
Joy is love
Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.
~Mother Teresa

I must admit that today I had a sense of respect, a sense of awe, for the marvels of the human soul. One thing I always thank the Divine for, is for the gift of my friends- I am surprised that with my idea of becoming a religious priest, I still have friends whom are willing to be part of my life; individuals who share my joy, fun, people who participate in my love for food, friends who are sincere and loving people.

In my many contacts with so many people, I realized the capacity of the human soul in achieving their specific call in life; perhaps many of us call this a 'DREAM'. For me I call this secular word 'DREAM', as an inner calling planted in each of us by the Divine- I call the 'dream' a Vocation, a Call from God. The Scriptures say, that God knows us by name even before we were created in our mother's womb.

I marvel at how people have found ways to reach their Vocation in life- I have seen and heard of friends who had to undergo a new university course when they found their interest in other fields of studies. I see friends who enjoy their life (work, relationships) and are willing to sacrifice time on the journey of their vocation in life. I have seen adults who due to terminal cancer had to redirect their life's journey and live as a dying patient with happiness and conversion to Catholicism; may the soul of auntie Agnes rest in peace. I have heard of friends who are willing to undergo hardships and uncertainties to be in a country of their choice. I have even come across an individual, who had begun 4 different university courses but had never completed a single one of those courses. I have friends who are so generous to me with their life, so as to constantly support me in my spiritual life.

I bet you too have come across many of such friends or strangers? Perhaps, you too see yourself, or part of yourself, in their shoes?

I too marvel at myself! I thank God each day, for my capacity to live through each day despite the many uncertainties that life as a religious can bring!!! I marvel at my resilience, my capacity in enduring hardships that comes my way on the journey in my faithfulness to the Divine. I marvel more at God, who has provided me with many spiritual graces and temporal needs when difficulties does come.

Life is such a beautiful mystery; the capacity for the human soul to shape itself through the changes of time creates a beautiful story. Yet, the human soul remains fix on its call in life- how true for the Scripture to proclaim that time can change, but God never changes! God is the same yesterday, today and forver was proclaimed by the Prophet Jeremiah!

Perhaps, that is why like humanity I am captured by the beauty of the cupcake I bought. Yes, life is a beautiful story and many of us know that in reality, in the beauty there too are the many struggles that come with it- financial crisis, marriage break down, not understanding our lives, doubt the existance of God, questioning why hardships come, some people need to work day and night. Perhaps, that is why it is good to indulge in a good beautifully made cupcake once in a while, to savour the goodness of humanity.
