Wow! I just love this Frech chocolate mousse cake by Chouquette Patesserie, New Farm. Chouquette named this cake as Shades of Chocolate. It has a crunchy base, 3 layers of chocolate mousse (dark, milk and white chocolates) and finished with a chocolate glaze.
I woke from a good night's sleep into the 17th Sunday in Ordinary time, having read the Gospel of the day and offered my prayer, I started thinking about the relevance of today's Gospel to humanity. I thought about my Shades of Chocolate, linking it to the misconception/misunderstanding/mistrust of many to the Churches' teaching about the Holy Trinity; the concept of 3 Persons (Father, Son and Spirit) in 1 God.
I was thinking that my tongue made sense of the 3 layers of chocolate as one fantastic cake! The layers of chocolate in the mousse cake has each a very unique taste to it; each layer is unique on their own. The chocolate glaze on the cake was a mix of sour-bitter; will not like the glaze on its own. The 3 layers of chocolate mouse was each different- 1 layer was a little sweet, the white layer was blend and the dark layer was rich. The crunch of the praline base of the cake was sweet and just crunchy- making me going for more! With all these different layers combined into one mouth-full, the cake was beautiful- sweet, rich, creamy and wanting for more.
My love for food has made me spent some time reading food blogs (mainly from Malaysian bloggers) and I noticed that many people agrees with a variety of spies/flavours/sweets to give one good dish. But, why can't people grasp the full understanding of the Trinity as 3 different Persons in 1 God? Perhaps we need to see each Person of the Trinity uniquely different by having their own personality; God is like the Creator, Christ is God made man, the Spirit is the hand/co-worker of God. Maybe like how we taste each spies/flavour as uniquely their own, like chilli powder makes chilli comes to mind, than if we can taste/experience each Person of the Trinity on their own perhaps we will understand the Person of the Father, of the Son and of the Spirit.
Like how the multitude of spies/flavours when combined together in balance, makes a fantastic dish. The whole coming of the 3 Persons in the Trinity makes the mystery of God even more genuine.
Friends I leave you with the concluding Prayer of the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time:
Lord God, protector of those who hope in you,
without whom nothing is strong, nothing holy,
support us always with your love.
Guide us so to use the good things of this world,
that even now we may hold fast to what endures for ever.
